Clutter Challenge #3: Recipes

I'm looking for a more elegant way to store recipes. Currently, this beat-up green binder is where they live. They are disorganized and falling out and the binder is getting too full.

I'm not sure where to go from here. I'd love to beautifully copy out each favorite recipe by hand onto a recipe card and keep them in card file, but who has the time? Maybe I just need to weed out recipes I never use and put the rest in some sort of order. That would help a lot, but it wouldn't make the green binder any more aesthetically pleasing.

If you have a great recipe-storage method, please let me know.

This isn't mine; it's actually Joanne's, and I think I heard about it through Stacy, but it's genius!

Organize by primary vegetable, and group them according to season. So asparagus would come first while gourds would come last. That way, whatever season you're in, you can flip to the appropriate section of vegetables, and voila!

Right now, a lot of my printed-out recipes live in a binder, too. I just got some plastic sleeves and saved recipes I love, organized loosely by entree / soup / side / dessert, and that way you can pull out a recipe in plastic to work from. It doesn't get sloppy, and you don't have to fuss with keeping heavy cookbooks open :)

Laura, you are a gem. I knew you'd know the answer.
